- #1Journey to Madrid NM and Back to VRBO
TaleRider
Headed out of ABQ to Madrid and Maggie’s Diner. Took 1-25 and the a county road from hell: 11 miles of washboard road and tire ruts six inches deep. Baby Blue kept us up right and true but couldn’t go over 20, and she did well. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT take county road 57 A! Once we were on NM 14, I stopped and kissed the smooth pavement of the highway. Loved Madrid, NM—has become quite the artists colony. From Madrid took NM State 14 to Sandia Peak Tramway. Great trip up the mountain, then down the mountain, and then back up the mountain to the resort at the peak.

- #3ABQ to Clovis NM Part 01–Stop at Santa Rosa
TaleRider
41 degrees when I left at 1:15 MST time. Chilly but not unbearable. Bundled in long john’s, two pairs of jeans, a tee-shirt, two long sleeve tee-shirts, and two pairs of sock as each. Wore two heavy jackets, full head/face covering, and full face mask with helmet. Still, felt the chill through everything. Cloudy all the way with snow framing the roadway. No snow on inter estate. I-40 traffic was heavy, especially with the semis, which seemed to purposely run in tandem teams of 10 to 15 trucks. Finally stopped at the TA at the turnoff to Clovis. Amazing—the sun was now out and no stretches of snow along the road way. All the up to 49!
