- #2Budapest - Kékestető
Sylvain
Excellent road from Hatvan. Beautiful scenery around Kekestetö. The road on the return, between Kekestetö and Paszto, offered a really long nice twisty road that was of very good quality with long portions brand new. The part between Budapest and Hatvan is dull and the motorway is in fact a better option.

- #3Budapest - Banská Bystrica - Vlachy
Sylvain
A really nice trip into Slovakia. The roads were mostly of great quality, curvy but not crazy. Plenty of fun in a fantastic landscape. Unlike what the map could let you think, all roads were rather large. At almost no point (with the exception of the last kms to Vlachy were the roads small. The city of Banská Bystrica is gorgeous and worth the trip for having a meal on the main place at the center. Note: the driving time of this trip was 7h exactly, not 9h.

Very nice trip to Slovakia. As usual the roads become very nice from the Slovak border. The roads are also much much better, even often brand new in Slovakia. This time I did not take toute 66 to go north. This road is much nicer. Plenty of curves for your eager bike. The return road was not bad at all but with a bit of motorway. It was 37.5 degrees outside and even on the motorway it felt like cooking. 😄 All in all it is a very pleasant road on a bike with very nice landscapes, good quality roads and plenty of curves.

- #6Budapest-Pannonhalma: Fantastic landscape !
Sylvain
This is probably the nicest road I’ve ever done so far inside Hungary. Beautiful landscape all the way long …on mostly shitty roads. Basically, the nice part starts from Piliscsaba and gets nicer and nicer all along. The roads are small and would be amazing if they were not rotten as they are. If your bike can take it you will love this trip. There is an exception though: Pannonhalma to Virc. This road has been built by the gods of bikers. Brand new, splendid and curvy. A paradise in Hungary. After Virc there is still some nice roads, so globally, if we exclude the 30km out and in Budapest it is an absolute delight of a trip. I hated the road but even then I might do it again.

- #7Budaors-Pécs-Kaposvár-Budapest
Sylvain
Real driving duration is 5h15m. This trip is obviously mostly motorway and 110km/h roads but that is the price to pay to make a return trip to Pécs. No comment about the motorway except that the M6 is of good quality with few cars, therefore comfortable. It is much better than the terrible M7. Otherwise, between the M6 (Szekszárd) and Pécs the road is quite pleasant and twisty. In fact I was very pleased to have chosen that road. The road itself is of the worst kind: it looks good but there are plenty of kind-of-holes. My bike and my back don’t like that at all. But otherwise it’s very nice indeed. Pécs itself is gorgeous and really worth the trip. Just leave before 9am to have more time to enjoy this beautiful old center. From Pécs to Kaposvar it is route 66. I used to say I don’t like it up north but here it is superb landscape with hills. I loved it. The road on the contrary looks total crap but is better than it looks. From Kaposvar it is totally uninteresting. If you take the m7 to return as I did be very careful with petrol. There is about 100km without petrol station on the road. All in all I had a very good time down south. If I had to do it again, instead of taking the M7 I’d come back with M6.

- #9Budapest - Pápa
Sylvain
All flat trip to Pápa. 4h (5 is with the pauses) The journey on the one way was okay. The motorway allows to get out of town quickly and get immediately to nice good quality curvy roads. The landscape is quite pleasant and the road is nice as well. I must add that it is very flat and the little wind I had made the trip often unpleasant with the noise in helmet (and I have the quietest helmet on the market). Otherwise the road are quite empty and it’s nice. I would also add that I desperately looked for a place to rest like a bakery on the way but there is nothing nowhere in any village. Amazing! I even tried in Pápa but just got lost looking. Maybe you can do better. On the way back I wanted a new route and picked the Waze option. Big mistake! This route along the lakes is just plain 110km/h road. Boring to death! Use that only if in a hurry! So in short, the nice part was between Bicske and Pápa. That’s it.

- #10Loop to Esztergom
Sylvain
Better than anticipated. I as aiming at Slovakia when the weather did not agree with that plan. I therefore decided to go west towards Esztergom. The road, just south of the border is very pleasant and quiet. Road is rotten, as usual, but your bike might do a better job than mine at accommodating my rubbish roads. The part in Slovakia is perfect, of course. All in all, if we forget the motorway to get out and the last 15km near Budapest in return, I had a much better time than I thought and it is worth considering if you are short in time.
